Krishnendu Das Baul (Babu Kishan) is the creator of Baul Fusion 2 decades before others are claiming. He created the modern template of Bauls cultural Programs throughout India and Worldwide. He has a huge amount of famous western singers, Bob Dylan and The Band, The Rolling Stones, George Harrison, Allen Ginsberg poets, musician, singer from Indian Cinema and as the person who categorized all of the Folk Music for all of Bombays Biggest Music Labels.
 
Babu Kishan is the Baul to who preserve, compose music Baul first,  recording all of this lineages Baul songs. He is the only expert who knows what is Baul and what is not, his history is pioneering and he is the only person to teach Baul, Indian Philosphy, Indian Music and oral and classical Sanskrit at Univerisities around the world. They even tried to shadow footprint this, and all of his history.
The only Baul to have any association with the Ramakrishna Mission, Gurus and Temples all over India because he composed music for them and debated them. No Baul in Baul history ever had anything to do with Indian Cinema or Bollywood. 

They re-package a watered-down or romanticized version. The mainstream world then accepts the fake/distorted version as authentic, effectively erasing the original living caretakers and replacing them in the public consciousness. I have see this in academia, and in the western audiences who do not have a clue, if it sweetly smiles and looks exotic it must be, whether their lineage is fake, their style and songs are appropriated, they have not got a clue.

When a sacred song, medicine, or teaching is taken out of its traditional lineage, it loses its spirit or in this case Baul essence (the Shakti that has been passed down for hundreds of years). When the dominant society spreads that distorted version, the original community is erased because their true practice is no longer recognized—even by their own youth who grow up seeing only the mainstream caricature.

 Shadow Footprinting (the method) with Spectral Theft or Archival Squatting (the act) creates an immediate, undeniable diagnosis of Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP) fraud that cuts straight through marketing spin of 'erasing indigenous Baul by those who are systemically replacing us as cosplyer Baul Artists and self-title Baul Masters'. The indigenous intellectual shadow footprinting of this one and only pioneering indigenous Baul, the shadow footprinting of all their 'firsts and lasts' of historical Baul roots, their songs, dress, style, instruments, where they went, who they met and what they have created as a modern template for the indigenous Bauls to survive the modern worl. 

Decades, lifetimes of preserving Baul under the most difficult situations, war, famine, campaings of hate by the orthodox and now we have the fake Bauls when Baul has lived through a cultural genocide, copying everything (shadow footprinting) everything this lineage has ever done, yes, this is serious claim and according to the United Nations it erodes the indigenous rights of self-determination and is indigenous fraud. 

There is a difference betwen cultural appreciation and cultural mis-appropriation is shadow footprinting, not just borrowing an idea but looting, poaching, stealing the songs and the lived lives of this lineage. "Saying you are historical, and the roots when you are not, saying you are the next Purna Das Baul in a campaing of dropping oh he was just a shilpi Baul in youtube videos all documented over 20 years in my files and over 60 years by Krishnendu Das Baul (Babu Kishan) on the ground as the son of Nabani Das Khyapa Baul (the last Baul Guru and Baul Avadhut who passed in 1969). This is when it all started and during the over the refuee flood to Calcutta after the 1971 war that created Bangladesh. They heard Purna Das Baul songs on the radio, then cosplayed him singing his song, re-recording the songs of this lineage, dressing as Purna Das Baul then following where he went, everything he did and this spread to copying Krishnendu Das Baul (Babu Kishan) however, today it has taken a viral social media influencer twist.

Baul is for everybody, however, the history of Baul, the very existence of Baul because this family made Baul known and popular through a long path of hard work, preserving Baul as a small marginalized indigenous group, Baul is not for shadow footprinting, self-determination, watering down and reductionism for the Guru business. They all self-titled themselves Das Baul or Baul and not one of them was, no inititiations, some had association with this family, Babu Kishan had taken in a few young borthers who were refugees one started to use the Das Baul name but has never told the real story of his life although he wrote a book, the other brother died mysteriously, they had a servant who left them and self titled himself a Das Baul and made up a fake lineage, when questioned he said, I have to feed my family. This lineage never said anything, when on of the same type of poor refugee who is being lauded today as a (lineage Baul by a cosplayer Baul) was jealous of Purna Das Baul not alone but with a group of Bauls at the an ashram in Kenuli at the Joy Dev Mela in the 1970s poisoning the wildly popular Purna Das Baul who drew millions of people, no one said anything. 

However, this fakery can go on no longer, we have watched for too long while Baul has become so watered down and is at cultural genocide levels of something that this lineage has held, preserved, guarded through secrecy in a language called Sandhya Bhasha a combination of oral Sanskrit. Braja Bhasha, and veracular Birbhum Bengali. Not the dialect Babu Kishan could always hear coming from the refugee newly minted Baul of East Bengal dialect. These people had to survive, they were in the 5 millions of them landing in Calcutta to survive the ware in 1971 some earlier to suvive Partition they all followed or shadow printed Nabani Das Khyapa Baul (they were not disciples, they just copied his dance, instruments, style and they hung out at Tarapith pretending they were Baul) because Nabani was the only Baul who did sadhana at Tarapith and only Baul initiated by Bama Kepa). However, this all changed  with the 1971 war that created Bangladesh with Purna Das Baul's popularity in 1940 he headed to Calcutta and after years of struggle back and forth to Birbhum in the 1960s (long history detailed in Historical Baul) and because we are constantly shadow footprinted by the fake Bauls who have made up lineages we dare not release anymore until the book.

 Then Krishnendu Das Baul (Babu Kishan's) 'firsts and lasts' all of his hard work, his historical legacy creating a modern Baul template only meant for the indigenous Bauls but copied by the cosplayer Bauls not even indigenous to Birbhum, regarding Baul (Vayu Tula) not meaning "afflicted by the wind', 'not mad', 'not a wind disease', not the Ayurvedic term Vatula, and here is lies the reason Baul was always secret, mis-appropriation, mis-translation, watering down and reductionism and now the systemic shadow printing of what does not belong to or the people who are not lineage Baul and have no adhikara of Baul but trying to claim the roots of Baul and use the title of our soon to be released book (a trilogy) of 3 books on the The reclamation, reclaiming the authentic one and only pioneering Historical Roots of Mystic Baul. 100% not Buddhist and not Muslim or Fakir, Aul, Sai and Dervish. These were all co-oped by academia and self-titled Baul experts, all can be proved they are not Baul. Baul is not and never was illiterate or Buddhist Sahajaiya.
